Which kind of multi-focal eyeglass is better for a starter?

I was told was suffered from hyperopia a week ago, as I have been wearing single vision Rx eyeglasses for several years, now the question is which is the best choice for a starter to wear those multi-focal lenses, bifocal or progressive eyeglasses? I need some professional suggestions, thank you!
