Can I buy prescription sunglasses?

I have been wearing those heavy and thick eyeglasses lenses for years, my prescription is really strong, these lenses are always my company in the old days, the lenses are really thick, but now I am planning to buy a pair of sunglasses, and I want to know if there are special lens materials which can make my lens much thinner, as it's difficult for me to order prescription sunglasses with cool plastic frames, and what if I choose metal material frames?
