my uncle's prescription is too high to difficult to do with bifocal lenses

my uncle is a teacher who has to need more than two pairs of eyeglasses for his prescription. It is a strong prescription, SPH at -8.00 and ADD as +1.50 for both eyes. The optical store said that it is too high to difficult process with the multifocal or bifocal lenses. He feels it is very inconvenient with two pairs. how to help him? i need a professional suggestions! HELP!!
