Do I need to order transition progressive eyeglasses?

This is not my first time to choose prescription eyeglasses, and I always need to wear progressive ones, which are really a good choice for me, but you know that the price of such lenses is really high nowadays, I am not going to spend hundreds of dollars a stuff which may go out of style in just several months, I am looking for a pair of cheap but quality eyeglasses, as I am an office worker, and photochromic lenses are fitted at such situation well, but I was told that transition progressive eyeglasses are really hard to get, is that true, but I want to know if I need to buy the photochromic eyeglasses?
